BUT spherical roller thrust bearings can take over heavy axial loads in one direction and simultaneously radial loads. Due to design of their raceways, they are self-aligning, which makes them insensitive to the shaft deflection or misalignment between shaft and housing. They are mainly manufactured in three configurations, depending on bearing size: EM type, with one-piece machined brass cage guided on the shaft washer; EMEVO type, with one-piece EVO machined brass cage guided on the shaft, where the axial forces are transmitted via the cage-guiding sleeve; and EJ type, with a high-strength pressed steel cage guided on the shaft washer.
